Water -- 326 million trillion gallons of it. Always around us. In us. It is an integral ingredient of life as we know it. Liquid water makes Earth unique in our solar system. It grounds us to our home planet. Without it we can never travel among the stars.
Artist WILLY PÉREZ has put on canvas the ballet of interaction and social expression existing within Earth’s water. This collection, DIVERSITY, draws on marine bio-diversity – both below and above the water. The art speaks to the subconscious through a medley of rich chroma. A sense of grandeur is inspired within the viewer - compelling an immediate need to partake, to join in with the liquid life and yet to be mindful. Pérez reminds us to cherish and nurture this gift for it holds the key to our future and, undeniably, our very survival.
Part of a Dominican art dynasty, Willy Pérez was born in 1956 in Santo Domingo. He started studying painting from an early age with his father, renowned artist, Guillo Pérez, considered one of the most prolific and important canvas artists of the Dominican Republic.
To date, Pérez has had 31 solo exhibitions and participated in many collectives, with his works garnering multiple awards in national art competitions. Currently Director of the School of Arts Guillo Pérez, founded in 1984, Willy Pérez has taught thousands of students while continuing to develop his own styles, systems and techniques. His works currently are mostly in private collections, galleries and public institutions.
With several events to choose from, patrons can enjoy a refreshing exchange of culture and philosophy from a modern master who Matisse himself would adore.
